Apple’s Vision for Future Smart Glasses Pushed to 2027

Tue, Jun 2, 2026(90d ago)Business

Apple fans eager for the company’s first foray into AI-powered eyewear will need to practice a bit more patience. Recent reports indicate that the tech giant has encountered development challenges, pushing the anticipated release date to late 2027. While previous speculation pointed to an earlier arrival, it appears Apple is taking extra time to refine the hardware and ensure the product meets their high standards before a commercial debut. Despite these setbacks, the project remains a top priority for leadership, with CEO Tim Cook and incoming executive John Ternus closely overseeing its progress.

The upcoming wearable is positioned as a sophisticated rival to Meta’s popular smart glasses, with Apple aiming to stand out through superior design and deeper functionality. Current development efforts are focused on offering a variety of aesthetics, including classic and modern frame styles, while packing in advanced features like high-quality cameras, built-in audio, and seamless Siri integration. Long-term, Apple views these glasses as a foundational platform that could eventually evolve to include health-monitoring sensors and advanced augmented reality capabilities, transforming how users interact with their digital and physical environments.
