Adnoc Secures Major 15-Year LNG Export Deal with Japan’s Inpex
ADNOC has officially entered into a long-term agreement to supply one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually to Japan’s Inpex Corporation for the next 15 years. This strategic partnership, finalized during a high-level diplomatic visit to Japan led by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, underscores the deepening energy cooperation between the UAE and Japan. The deal represents a significant milestone for the Ruwais LNG project, pushing its long-term output commitments to over 90 percent of its intended 9.6 mtpa capacity, with Japanese partners now securing nearly a quarter of the plant's total production.
Scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2028, the Ruwais LNG facility in Al Ruwais Industrial City is set to become the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa to be powered entirely by clean energy. By integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence and advanced emission-reduction technologies, the facility is positioning itself as one of the world's most sustainable LNG producers. This project is expected to be a transformative addition to Adnoc's global portfolio, effectively doubling the production capacity of Adnoc Gas once the acquisition of the stake is finalized.
