Sharjah Solidifies Status as Global Luxury Hub Following Record-Breaking Jewellery Exhibition
Sharjah recently concluded its 57th Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show, a five-day event that once again proved the emirate’s capability as a premier destination for the global luxury trade. Organized by Expo Centre Sharjah and backed by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the exhibition drew over 96,000 visitors from 78 countries, marking a significant 6% increase in attendance. With more than 400 master jewellers and thousands of designers from 21 nations showcasing their work across 30,000 square metres, the event underscored Sharjah’s growing influence, boasting a 41% surge in purchasing power compared to previous years.
The exhibition was marked by both prestige and innovation, highlighted by the debut of a Guinness World Record-holding gold dress and the introduction of the “Spirit of the Emirates,” the nation’s first locally sourced gemstone. Beyond the glamour, the event served as a vital business engine, with an 80% satisfaction rate among exhibitors who praised the high quality of professional networking opportunities. Expo Centre Sharjah CEO Saif Mohammed Al Midfa credited this continued success to the emirate’s visionary leadership, noting that the exhibition has become a critical bridge for international markets and a testament to Sharjah’s world-class infrastructure and its reputation as a leading hub for specialised global trade.
