Expo City Dubai Awards Inaugural Green Licences to Six Sustainability Leaders

Wed, Jul 8, 2026(1h ago)Business

In a significant step toward solidifying its status as the UAE’s premier Green Innovation District, Expo City Dubai has officially granted its first batch of "Expo Green Licences" to six diverse organizations. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, serves as a rigorous vetting process to ensure that only companies with proven environmental, social, and governance (ESG) credentials operate within the district. Ranging from climate-tech innovators like AirJoule to e-waste management experts such as WAT (We Are Tech), these businesses represent a growing ecosystem dedicated to driving measurable sustainable impact.

The licence is designed to be accessible through two distinct pathways: established firms with recognized ESG ratings can qualify directly, while smaller, emerging enterprises undergo a specialized assessment by Expo City’s in-house experts. Beyond the prestige of the designation, these companies receive a support package worth over Dh400,000, which includes discounted setup costs, promotional opportunities, and fast-track access to intellectual property support. As these pioneers join forces with others like Carbon Assurance and RBT Collective, the project aims to play a crucial role in advancing the national "We the UAE 2031" vision by fostering a thriving community of green innovation.
