Dubai Launches High-Speed EV Charging Hub for Taxi Fleet
Dubai has officially launched the first stage of a cutting-edge electric vehicle charging hub designed specifically to support its growing fleet of eco-friendly taxis. Located at the Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) headquarters in Muhaisnah 4, this facility is equipped with 360 KW ultrafast chargers capable of powering 24 vehicles in just 35 minutes. This initiative stems from a strategic partnership between the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and DTC, which aims to roll out over 200 high-speed charging points to ensure the city’s electric taxi operations remain efficient and sustainable.
This infrastructure expansion arrives as DTC experiences significant growth, following a successful year where net profits climbed to Dh356.1 million. By investing in next-generation charging technology, the city is doubling down on its commitment to reduce carbon emissions and improve urban air quality. Both DEWA CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer and DTC CEO Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi emphasized that this project is a pivotal step in accelerating the transition to green mobility, providing the necessary backbone for a fully electrified taxi fleet while cementing Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in sustainable transportation innovation.
