Emirates Hits Milestone With Massive 100-Aircraft Refurbishment
Emirates has officially reached a significant milestone in its ambitious $5 billion fleet modernization project, announcing the completion of cabin refurbishments for 100 aircraft. Since the program kicked off in late 2022, the airline's dedicated engineering team in Dubai has transformed 47 Airbus A380s and 53 Boeing 777s. This massive undertaking, which required over 400 technicians and 4.4 million man-hours, stands as the largest internal aircraft retrofit project in aviation history, aimed at elevating the passenger experience across the airline's global network.
A key highlight of this extensive upgrade is the introduction of the popular Premium Economy cabin, with over 3,800 new seats now available to travelers. Initially covering a smaller portion of the fleet, the program has expanded significantly due to high customer demand, now slated to include 219 aircraft. Looking ahead, Emirates plans to push the boundaries of in-flight comfort even further by late 2026, when the next phase of the project introduces high-definition 4K OLED screens and advanced, lightweight seating designs to their fleet.
