CBD H1 profit climbs to Dh1.72b as lending exceeds Dh100bn milestone

Thu, Jul 23, 2026(47d ago)Business

Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) has announced a solid start to 2026, recording a net profit after tax of Dh1.716 billion for the first half of the year. This represents a 1.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025, driven largely by the bank’s loan book surpassing the Dh100 billion threshold for the first time. Supported by the UAE’s robust economic environment and steady demand for credit across both corporate and retail sectors, the bank’s total assets reached Dh154.5 billion, while customer deposits climbed to Dh107.7 billion by the end of June.

Dr. Bernd van Linder, the bank's CEO, attributed this success to a diversified income strategy and disciplined risk management, noting that non-funded income—derived from trade activities, investments, and treasury sales—rose by 10.9 percent to help stabilize overall earnings. Alongside this financial growth, the bank demonstrated improved asset quality, with its non-performing loan ratio dropping to 3.6 percent from 4.13 percent a year ago. Looking forward, CBD plans to maintain this momentum by prioritizing technological innovation and enhanced digital services to ensure long-term value for its stakeholders.
