Rakbank Hits Record Profitability in First Half of 2026

Fri, Jul 24, 2026(15h ago)Business

Rakbank has delivered a stellar performance for the first half of 2026, reaching record-breaking profit levels despite a demanding economic landscape. This financial milestone was fueled by robust lending activity, a healthy net interest margin of 3.9 percent, and a strong CASA ratio of 64.3 percent. The bank’s bottom line also received a significant boost from a Dh473 million one-off gain following the sale of its merchant acquiring business, demonstrating the institution's strategic agility.

Beyond the headline profits, the bank’s internal metrics highlight a period of sustained growth and fiscal discipline. Loan quality saw a marked improvement as impaired loans dropped to 1.8 percent, supported by a industry-leading Stage 3 coverage ratio of 85.9 percent. With capital adequacy sitting comfortably at 19.3 percent and a return on equity climbing to 25.2 percent, Rakbank has effectively utilized its capital to drive returns. As the UAE banking sector navigates shifting interest rates and heightened competition, Rakbank continues to balance expansion with stability, ensuring consistent credit access for both its retail and commercial clients.
