UAE and India Boost Consular Cooperation During Delhi Talks

Fri, Jul 24, 2026(45d ago)Business

The United Arab Emirates and India recently held the seventh session of their Joint Consular Committee in New Delhi to further streamline services and strengthen diplomatic ties. Led by UAE Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi and Indian Secretary for Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs Sripriya Ranganathan, the meeting underscored the nations' deep-rooted strategic partnership. Alshamsi emphasized that the relationship, bolstered by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), has flourished across political, technological, and cultural sectors, with the robust Indian community in the UAE serving as a vital bridge between the two countries.

Building on the foundation laid during their previous session in Abu Dhabi, officials focused on enhancing consular efficiency through digital innovation and the integration of modern technology. A key priority discussed was the implementation of improved verification processes for academic credentials, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing the evolving needs of their citizens. By pledging to maintain close coordination, both delegations reaffirmed that these consular efforts are essential to supporting the growing volume of travel, education, and professional exchange that defines the modern UAE-India connection.
