UAE Credit Reports Now Include Micro-Loan Data
The Etihad Credit Bureau is significantly broadening its credit reporting framework by integrating micro-loan data into official consumer reports. Following a similar initiative to include Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services, the Bureau is now incorporating information from providers like CashNow, facilitated through Botim Finance. By capturing these smaller financial obligations, the system aims to provide banks and lenders with a comprehensive overview of an individual's debt profile, ultimately fostering more accurate risk management and better-informed lending decisions.
This transition marks a major step toward modernizing the UAE’s financial ecosystem as digital lending platforms continue to gain popularity. With data from over one million CashNow profiles already submitted, thousands of residents are being integrated into the formal credit system. Experts highlight that this move is a win-win: it allows lenders to better assess borrower reliability while offering consumers a valuable opportunity to build a documented credit history through consistent, timely repayments. By professionalizing these digital lending channels, the initiative supports a more inclusive and transparent financial environment for the entire nation.
