UAE Cable Demand Surges as Local Projects Shift Toward Domestic Suppliers
The Dubai Cable Company (Ducab) has seen a notable uptick in domestic demand as regional geopolitical instability continues to disrupt global shipping and logistics. According to CEO Charles Mellagui, these supply chain bottlenecks have prompted UAE-based projects to reduce their reliance on international imports, turning instead to local manufacturers to keep operations on track. Despite the broader regional challenges, Ducab has maintained uninterrupted production, successfully stepping in to fill the gap for major national infrastructure initiatives like Etihad Rail and DP Ports.
Beyond traditional infrastructure, the company is playing a critical role in the UAE’s digital transformation, currently powering roughly half of the country’s data centers. With the region’s AI and cloud computing sectors projected to see significant growth, Mellagui highlighted that the UAE’s competitive energy pricing makes it an ideal destination for hyperscalers. By leveraging domestically produced, affordable energy, the nation has positioned itself as a strategic hub for data centers, ensuring that Ducab remains at the forefront of the country’s burgeoning technological and energy landscape.
