Odisha Courts UAE Investors After Landmark IHC-Adani Aluminium Deal

Tue, Sep 8, 2026(1h ago)Business

Building on the momentum of a massive $1.10 trillion integrated aluminium project backed by Abu Dhabi’s IHC Group and the Adani Group, the Indian state of Odisha is launching an aggressive campaign to secure further UAE investment. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to lead a high-level delegation to Abu Dhabi and Dubai this September to cultivate long-term economic partnerships. By leveraging the scale of the IHC-Adani deal—which promises to generate over 53,000 jobs—the state aims to position itself as a premier destination for international capital, technology, and export-led industrial growth.

Odisha’s strategy centers on shifting from a raw resource supplier to a sophisticated hub for value-added manufacturing, specifically targeting sectors like green energy, port infrastructure, logistics, and food processing. With a projected economic growth rate of 7.9% for the upcoming fiscal year and a commitment to regulatory simplification, the state is keen to capitalize on the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that the goal is to establish a transparent, trust-based business environment, inviting UAE firms to integrate Odisha into their global supply chains and treat the state as a strategic gateway to broader international markets.
