Dubai Customs Unveils Advanced Cargo System and New Logistics Research Hub
Dubai Customs is set to revolutionize trade efficiency with the introduction of an Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system. By securing shipment data before goods even depart from their country of origin, the authority will be able to perform risk assessments and inspection planning far more effectively than the current 36-hour pre-arrival window allows. This initiative is a major step toward streamlining customs operations and ensuring that only the most critical shipments require manual intervention, ultimately speeding up the movement of goods into the UAE.
To further solidify Dubaiās status as a global leader in trade and logistics, the authority has also launched a new Centre of Excellence in partnership with the University of Dubai. This academic collaboration, which involves prestigious institutions like Michigan State University and Henley Business School, is designed to fuel research into supply chain security, e-commerce, and AI-driven logistics. By bridging the gap between academic theory and operational practice, the centre aims to support the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, ensuring the emirate remains at the forefront of international commerce through innovation, specialized talent development, and cutting-edge digital solutions.
