Etihad Airways Sets Ambitious Goal of 37 Million Passengers by 2030
Etihad Airways is charting an aggressive path forward, aiming to serve 37 million passengers annually by 2030. CEO Antonoaldo Neves emphasizes that the airline's expansion is deeply intertwined with Abu Dhabi’s broader vision to become a global hub for business, tourism, and residency. Since 2022, the carrier has seen a remarkable transformation, jumping from 10 million passengers to 25 million, while nearly doubling its network to over 130 destinations. With plans to reach a fleet size of approximately 200 aircraft through a $2 billion investment, Etihad is positioning itself as a vital engine for the emirate's economic growth.
Beyond just increasing passenger volume, Etihad is proactively working to turn transit travelers into long-term visitors through its successful stopover program, which already draws over 310,000 people to the city annually. This strategy is complemented by the airline’s robust cargo operations and a massive recruitment drive that currently supports a diverse workforce of 14,000 employees. By strengthening international connectivity and promoting Abu Dhabi as a primary destination rather than just a transit point, the airline is playing a pivotal role in achieving the emirate’s target of attracting 40 million visitors by the end of the decade.
