UAE Fuel Costs Surge Past Dh4 Per Litre Amid Regional Tensions
Starting October 2026, motorists in the UAE will face significantly higher costs at the pump as fuel prices have jumped by 60 fils per litre—a hike of over 16 percent. This shift marks the first time in more than four years that prices have crossed the Dh4 threshold. Specifically, Super 98 has risen to Dh4.40, Special 95 to Dh4.28, and E-Plus 91 to Dh4.21. This sharp increase mirrors a similar trend seen during the 2022 geopolitical instability, once again highlighting how volatile international events can directly impact household budgets.
The current price spike is largely attributed to escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing friction between the US and Iran and concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. With Brent crude consistently hovering above the $100 mark throughout September, global oil markets remain highly reactive to shifts in regional diplomacy and sanctions. Market experts note that these elevated energy costs are not only impacting consumers directly but are also putting pressure on the US Federal Reserve, as rising fuel prices continue to drive inflation and complicate the outlook for interest rate policies.
