Airtel Money Eyes $7 Billion Valuation in Major London IPO

Thu, Oct 1, 2026(2h ago)Business

Airtel Africa’s mobile money division is gearing up for a significant London stock market debut, aiming for a valuation of approximately $7 billion. By offering 270 million shares at £1.96 apiece, the company expects to raise roughly $703 million. This move arrives at a critical time for the London Stock Exchange, which has been actively working to simplify its listing regulations to reverse a long-standing trend of companies seeking capital in other markets.

If the offering hits its target, it will stand as London’s most substantial IPO since the Fermi Inc. dual listing in September 2025. Following the debut, which is slated for mid-October, the company will maintain a 16.5% free float to encourage liquidity. While the size of the deal is slightly more conservative than some earlier market projections, it remains a major milestone for the exchange. The IPO is backed by a group of heavy-hitting investors, including Qatar Holding, Mastercard, and TPG-backed The Rise Fund, though Airtel Africa will continue to hold a significant stake in the business as a long-term strategic partner.
