Emirates Eyes Strong Start for New Dubai-Helsinki Service

Fri, Oct 2, 2026(2h ago)Business

Emirates is setting an ambitious target for its newly launched daily direct route between Dubai and Helsinki, aiming for a 75 percent load factor within its first year. Adnan Kazim, the airline’s Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, noted that this occupancy level would be a significant success as the carrier works to establish a firm foothold in the Finnish market. By offering a non-stop connection, Emirates hopes to simplify travel for Finnish passengers who previously had to transit through other regional hubs like Stockholm or Copenhagen, while simultaneously boosting tourism exchanges between the Gulf and Finland’s unique landscapes.

Beyond passenger travel, the route is already proving to be a major win for cargo operations. The inaugural flight saw its full 16-tonne freight capacity utilized, reflecting a robust appetite for shipping high-value goods like pharmaceuticals and perishable items such as Finnish salmon directly from Helsinki. By eliminating the previous logistical hurdle of trucking goods to neighboring Nordic countries before air transport, Emirates is streamlining supply chains and enhancing connectivity for both Finnish exporters and international businesses looking to tap into the Middle Eastern and Asian markets.
