UAE Financial Relief Package Supports Over 155,000 Customers
More than 155,000 UAE banking customers, ranging from individual borrowers to small businesses and major corporations, have received vital financial assistance through the Financial Institutions Resilience Package (FIRP). Introduced by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) in March 2026 to stabilize the economy following regional conflict, the initiative has successfully facilitated Dh15.9 billion in loan deferrals and fee waivers as of August 2026. This extensive support includes targeted aid for 849 private sector firms, over 6,400 SMEs, and nearly 149,000 individual account holders, all of whom have seen their immediate financial burdens eased.
During a recent review with bank executives, Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama highlighted that these measures, combined with robust oversight, have bolstered the overall health of the nationâs banking sector. Financial indicators remain strong, marked by a 12.9 percent growth in assets and an 18.8 percent rise in total lending compared to the previous year. With non-performing loan ratios dropping to 2.6 percent, the CBUAE continues to urge local banks to prioritize digital transformation and high-standard governance to maintain the UAEâs competitive edge and long-term economic stability.
