Saudi Arabia’s Energy Infrastructure Remains Resilient Amid Regional Tensions
Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman confirmed on Tuesday that oil throughput via the East-West Pipeline has reached 5.8 million barrels. This announcement serves to reassure global markets that the critical infrastructure connecting the kingdom's interior to the Red Sea export hub of Yanbu remains operational and reliable, despite recent speculation regarding its security.
The update follows earlier reports of potential disruptions linked to ongoing regional hostilities and recent drone attacks that had previously forced a temporary shutdown of the pipeline. Since the Strait of Hormuz became a point of instability, Riyadh has increasingly relied on this route to bypass the narrow waterway, rerouting approximately 4 million barrels of crude per day. By maintaining steady flows, Saudi Arabia continues to safeguard a vital artery that accounts for roughly 4% of the world’s daily oil supply.
