Dubai Islands Set for Major Coastal Expansion by 2027
Nakheel has announced a major transformation for its Dubai Islands project, with plans to upgrade 3km of the western shoreline by the end of 2027. The project, which has been awarded to Mar Marine & Building Contracting L.L.C., includes the creation of a 320-meter beach near the exclusive Bay Villas community. The development scope involves installing new breakwaters and renovating existing coastal rock structures, ensuring a seamless connection between the newly formed beach and the refurbished stretches of the coastline.
These marine enhancements are designed to complement the ongoing construction of Bay Villas, a residential hub featuring over 600 homes. According to Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, these upgrades are vital to maintaining a high-quality coastal environment that aligns with the broader masterplan of the five-island development. Once fully realized, Dubai Islands is set to become a premier waterfront destination, eventually housing over 230,000 residents and offering thousands of hotel keys and branded luxury residences.
