Sharjah Islamic Bank Sees Profit Climb Amid Strong Financing Growth
Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has reported a solid performance for the first nine months of 2026, with net profit rising by 9 percent to reach Dh1.2 billion. This upward trajectory was fueled by a significant 11.7 percent increase in Islamic financing and investment income, totaling Dh3.2 billion. Reflecting a robust demand for credit within the UAE, the bank’s total assets surpassed the significant milestone of Dh100 billion, while its financing portfolio grew by nearly 19 percent to hit Dh54.1 billion. Customer trust remains high as well, evidenced by an 8.4 percent boost in deposits.
Beyond the headline earnings, the bank has successfully improved its financial health by lowering its non-performing financing ratio to 3.2 percent and strengthening its capital adequacy to 19.37 percent. This capital boost, bolstered by a successful rights issue and a strategic $500 million sukuk issuance, has fortified SIB's balance sheet for future expansion. While the bank increased its spending on digital infrastructure and technology to enhance user experience, its operational efficiency also improved, with the cost-to-income ratio dipping to 34.7 percent. Overall, these results signal a resilient growth strategy as the lender positions itself to capitalize on further opportunities in the regional Islamic banking landscape.
