UAE Space Economy Soars with 27% Surge in Investment
The UAE's space sector is experiencing a period of rapid development, with total spending climbing by 27.1% to reach Dh5.52 billion in 2024. According to the latest Space Economic Survey, conducted by the UAE Space Agency and the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, commercial activity has become a primary engine of this growth, contributing Dh2.64 billionânearly half of the total expenditure. This shift underscores a maturing industry where private enterprise is increasingly working in tandem with government initiatives to bolster the nation's footprint in the global space economy.
Beyond the financial metrics, the sector is seeing a significant influx of domestic talent, particularly among younger generations and women. The number of Emirati professionals in the field has jumped by nearly 28%, and female participation has surged by over 83%. Looking ahead, these gains align with the National Space Strategy 2031, which aims to propel the UAE into the top ten global space economies. By fostering startups, enhancing local infrastructure, and cultivating a highly skilled workforce, the UAE is positioning itself to become a formidable competitor on the international stage while driving long-term economic diversification.
