Mashreq Bank Taps Into Asian Capital Markets with Debut Dim Sum Bond
Dubai-based Mashreq Bank has successfully launched its first-ever Dim Sum bond, securing 1 billion Chinese yuan through a three-year senior unsecured offering. The issuance, which carries a fixed coupon rate of 2.50 percent, saw impressive market appetite, with the orderbook reaching 2.3 billion yuan. This oversubscription highlights the growing confidence that international and regional investors have in the bankâs financial health and its strategic focus on expanding its footprint across Asian markets.
The success of this transaction, which is slated for listing on both the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Dubai, underscores the deepening economic ties between the UAE, China, and Hong Kong. By structuring the bond for seamless settlement through global clearing systems, Mashreq has effectively positioned itself as a key gateway for cross-border capital flows. Group CEO Ahmed Abdelaal noted that the deal not only bolsters the bank's ability to connect diverse capital markets but also reflects a commitment to supporting the expanding trade and investment corridors fostered by initiatives like the Belt and Road.
