Abu Dhabi Set to Host Prestigious 2029 IMF and World Bank Meetings
The United Arab Emirates has officially secured the rights to host the 2029 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Abu Dhabi. This landmark event will see delegates from 191 nations—including central bank governors, finance ministers, and various economic experts—gather to address critical issues such as global financial stability, economic growth prospects, and strategies for sustainable development. This marks a historic return for the UAE, which last hosted these major global institutions in Dubai back in 2003.
Officials from the UAE and the international organizations view this agreement as a testament to the nation’s robust infrastructure and its growing influence as a global hub for financial innovation. Leaders such as Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini and Khaled Mohamed Balama emphasized that the selection reflects the international community's trust in the UAE’s regulatory environment and its commitment to driving future-focused economic policies. With the support of top leadership from the IMF and the World Bank, the upcoming meetings are expected to be a pivotal platform for advancing digital financial services and fostering international cooperation to navigate the complexities of the modern global economy.
