UAE Job Market Rebounds: Hiring Sees 4% Growth in Q3 2026
The job market across the Gulf has shown a promising turnaround in the third quarter of 2026, with overall hiring activity increasing by two percent. This recovery follows a brief period of decline in the previous quarter, driven largely by a resurgence in business confidence as regional tensions eased. Leading the charge, the UAE experienced a notable four percent increase in recruitment, marking what experts describe as a strong rebound. Dr. Trefor Murphy, CEO of Cooper Fitch, noted that this shift represents an eight percent swing in activity compared to the stagnant second quarter, with momentum building steadily through September to match levels seen in previous years.
Sector-specific growth was particularly evident in energy, which saw a seven percent rise, bolstered by major gas project mandates in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Other high-performing areas included senior finance, strategy, and real estate, all of which saw robust hiring as companies shifted their focus toward long-term planning. While some sectors like investment management experienced a slight dip, industry experts suggest this is merely a pause rather than a downward trend. Looking ahead to 2027, employers are demonstrating increased optimism, moving away from short-term caution to prioritize strategic, long-term workforce expansion despite ongoing challenges regarding specialist talent shortages and rising operational costs.
