Gold Prices Dip Slightly Following Geopolitical Tensions

Tue, Aug 25, 2026(2h ago)Finance

Gold prices in Dubai saw a slight dip on Tuesday morning, pulling back from three-month highs after the US Treasury Secretary issued a stern warning regarding potential "economic onslaughts" against nations engaging in business with Iran. As the market opened, 24K gold was priced at Dh557.5 per gram, while 22K stood at Dh516.25, both marking a modest decline of Dh0.5 from the previous day's close. International markets mirrored this cooling trend, with spot gold slipping slightly to $4,637.85 per ounce, while silver saw a more pronounced decrease of 0.80 percent.

Market experts are closely monitoring how the interplay between US dollar strength, oil price fluctuations, and shifting geopolitical landscapes will influence future trends. According to Naeem Aslam of Zaye Capital Markets, investor sentiment hinges on whether the US takes a confrontational or conciliatory approach toward Iran. While heightened tensions typically bolster gold as a safe-haven asset, any easing of trade friction combined with strong US economic data could lead to price consolidation. Ultimately, gold remains well-positioned to maintain its value as long as real Treasury yields do not experience a significant spike.
