Dubai gold market sees price correction as rates soften
Gold prices in Dubai have stabilized early this week, following a noticeable downward trend that saw values drop by Dh35.75 over the past month. As of Monday morning, the 24K variant was listed at Dh498 per gram, while other categories including 22K, 21K, 18K, and 14K were priced at Dh461, Dh442, Dh379, and Dh295.5 per gram, respectively. This movement in the local market mirrors broader global trends, where spot gold experienced a minor decline of 0.18 percent, settling at $4,132.2 per ounce.
The recent cooling of gold prices is largely attributed to a resilient US dollar, though experts suggest that shifts in Federal Reserve policy expectations are preventing a sharper decline. Financial analysts note that the likelihood of an interest rate hike in October has significantly decreased, dropping from 70 percent to roughly 50 percent following recent economic commentary. Looking ahead, market observers are keeping a close watch on upcoming US economic indicators, such as non-farm payrolls and the core PCE price index, which will likely determine whether gold can regain its footing or if it will face further pressure from rising US Treasury yields.
