Dubai Gold Prices Dip Just in Time for Festive Shopping
Gold prices in Dubai have experienced another decline this Tuesday, largely driven by a strengthening US dollar and rising Treasury yields. The 24K variant opened at Dh496.75 per gram, marking a notable drop from the previous day's close of Dh498.50 and a cumulative monthly decrease of Dh37 per gram. Other varieties, including 22K, 21K, and 18K, also saw downward adjustments, trading at Dh460.00, Dh441.00, and Dh378.00 per gram, respectively.
This downward trend offers a timely boost for shoppers in the UAE as they prepare for the upcoming Indian festival season, including Navratri, Dhanteras, and Diwali. Many NRI families are taking advantage of these prices falling below the Dh500 threshold to advance their festive purchases. However, market experts remain cautious; Chris Weston of Pepperstone notes that gold is currently in a short-term downtrend. With the US dollar remaining strong and real yields sitting near cycle highs, non-yielding assets like gold face significant pressure, making it a challenging environment for investors as prices continue to test lower support levels.
