Dubai gold prices drop below Dh500 amid strengthening US dollar
Gold prices in Dubai saw a noticeable dip on Wednesday morning, with the 24K rate slipping below the Dh500 mark. According to the Dubai Jewellery Group, the price opened at Dh498.25 per gram, marking a decline of Dh5.75 from Tuesday’s closing figures. This downward trend extended across other gold variants, with 22K, 21K, 18K, and 14K gold also trading lower as global market sentiment shifted in response to a stronger US dollar.
The decline is largely attributed to investor caution as the market awaits the release of the latest Federal Reserve meeting minutes. Analysts suggest that these documents will be crucial in gauging the central bank's stance on future interest rate hikes. While the dollar has recently gained momentum, keeping downward pressure on precious metals, experts believe this greenback strength might be temporary, potentially shifting the outlook for gold in the coming year.
