NBQ Posts Dh378 Million Profit Amid Robust Asset Growth
The National Bank of Umm Al Qaiwain (NBQ) has announced a profit after tax of Dh378 million for the first nine months of 2026. While this reflects an 18.7 percent dip compared to the Dh465 million recorded during the same timeframe last year, the bank emphasized that its performance was underpinned by a diversified balance sheet and disciplined risk management. Notably, the institution saw positive momentum in its core operations, with total interest income climbing by 11 percent to reach Dh781 million. Despite a 13 percent rise in operating expenses, the bank maintained a healthy cost-to-income ratio of 28.2 percent, supported by a 10 percent expansion in total assets to Dh25.1 billion.
Financial health remains a key highlight, particularly regarding asset quality, as the bank successfully halved its non-performing loans ratio to 0.4 percent from 0.9 percent a year ago. With a solid capital adequacy ratio of 29.7 percent, well above the regulatory requirements set by the Central Bank of the UAE, the bank is comfortably positioned to navigate market shifts. CEO Adnan Al Awadhi noted that despite navigating geopolitical uncertainties, the bank continues to prioritize digital transformation and strategic growth. Looking ahead, the leadership remains confident in leveraging the UAE's ongoing economic development to drive efficiency and sustainable long-term value.
