Is ASML Poised to Become Europe’s First Trillion-Dollar Company?

Tue, Jul 21, 2026(45d ago)Technology

The global surge in artificial intelligence has turned ASML into a powerhouse on the European stock market, with its valuation climbing to nearly $700 billion this year. As the exclusive supplier of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines—the essential "picks and shovels" needed to manufacture the world’s most advanced AI chips—the Dutch firm has outpaced regional giants like LVMH and Novo Nordisk. With major financial institutions setting ambitious price targets, many analysts now view the $1 trillion milestone as a realistic, albeit challenging, goal for the company’s future.

However, reaching this historic valuation is not without significant hurdles. While the company enjoys a wide competitive moat, its growth remains tied to the sustained capital expenditure of hyperscalers like Google and Amazon, as well as its ability to navigate complex geopolitical tensions surrounding its business in China. Despite concerns regarding market volatility and supply chain dependencies, experts remain optimistic about an impending "upgrade cycle" where chipmakers increasingly shift toward ASML’s newer, higher-margin tools. Whether ASML can achieve this landmark status depends on its execution and the continued, unbroken momentum of the AI infrastructure boom.
