The Future of AI: How UAE Users Are Leading the Shift Toward Agentic Technology
A recent report from Ericsson ConsumerLab reveals that the UAE is rapidly outpacing the rest of the world in the adoption of artificial intelligence. By 2030, approximately 63% of smartphone users in the region expect to rely on AI agents to manage their daily responsibilities, marking a significant transition from using technology for simple queries to having it perform tasks autonomously. Currently, 10% of users in the UAE are already utilizing these "agentic" capabilities—double the global average—and the number of "AI super users" is projected to surge from 18% today to nearly half of the population by the end of the decade.
This shift toward automated assistance is set to fundamentally change how mobile networks function, as these background AI processes will require consistent, high-speed connectivity even when devices are idle. While users are eager to embrace this tech—with many planning to integrate AI into devices like smart glasses—concerns regarding security remain a top priority. More than half of those surveyed expressed anxiety about the rise of fraudulent AI impersonators, pointing to telecom providers as the most trusted entities to verify agent identities and maintain digital safety in an increasingly automated world.
