Abu Dhabi Moves to Seamless Parking with AI-Powered Automatic Payments

Tue, Jun 2, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Abu Dhabi is revolutionizing the daily commute by introducing a "Free Flow Paid Parking System" that eliminates the hassle of paper tickets, QR codes, and manual payment kiosks. Managed through the Darb app, this new initiative utilizes advanced artificial intelligence and automatic license plate recognition to track vehicle movements. Parking sessions now start the moment a car enters a designated zone, and fees are automatically deducted from the user’s digital wallet upon exit. To enjoy this seamless experience, motorists are simply reminded to keep their Darb e-wallets topped up to avoid any potential fines or service interruptions.

This transition toward fully automated, paperless parking is currently being rolled out across select multi-storey and private facilities, with plans to expand to more areas soon. Parallel to this shift, Dubai is also accelerating its own transition to a cashless society by phasing out cash payments at parking meters in favor of digital alternatives like the Parkin app and Nol cards. By moving toward these integrated, tech-driven solutions, both emirates are significantly simplifying the parking process, making urban mobility faster and more efficient for residents and visitors alike.
