Dubai’s Strategic Resilience: Lessons Learned from the Pandemic
Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, recently highlighted that Dubai’s ability to maintain continuity during the recent regional conflict was rooted in the experience gained during the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking at the annual Dubai Stakeholders City Briefing at the Dubai Opera, Kazim explained that the city’s leadership took a proactive, coordinated approach to ensure stability across all sectors. By maintaining constant communication with stakeholders and ensuring that leaders remained highly visible, the government successfully fostered a sense of confidence and security throughout the city.
This strategic agility proved essential as tensions escalated between the US, Israel, and Iran. Drawing from the crisis management protocols established during the global pandemic, Dubai officials prioritized transparency and rapid response to navigate the regional instability. Kazim emphasized that these efforts were further bolstered by government support, including a significant Dh2.5 billion relief package designed to fortify the private sector. By applying these hard-won lessons, Dubai managed to safeguard its operational continuity despite the volatility in the surrounding region.
