UAE Diplomat Urges Unified Gulf Response to Iranian Aggression

Wed, Jun 3, 2026(45d ago)UAE

In the wake of escalating drone and missile strikes by Iran against Kuwait and Bahrain, senior UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash has issued a strong appeal for a more cohesive Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strategy. Following a recent attack on Kuwait’s international airport that disrupted air traffic and left several people injured, Gargash emphasized that regional security is inextricably linked. He argued that the era of facing threats in isolation must end, noting that aggressive actions against individual members effectively endanger the entire Gulf region.

Gargash has been vocal about the need for a shift in regional diplomacy, criticizing the past response of Gulf nations as being too passive and fragmented. By calling for a move away from "shy" political stances toward a more realistic and unified security framework, he underscored that while logistical support has been present, deeper military and political synchronization is long overdue. While the UAE continues to advocate for de-escalation and a negotiated political solution to avoid further conflict, the advisor warned that the current crisis of trust demands a firm, collective resolve to protect shared interests against ongoing provocations.
