Abu Dhabi Police Urge Motorists to Keep Yellow Box Junctions Clear
Abu Dhabi Police have issued a stern reminder to all drivers, urging them to avoid stopping or parking within the yellow box markings at intersections. Officials emphasized that entering these junctions without a clear path ahead causes unnecessary congestion and disrupts the flow of traffic, which significantly increases the risk of road accidents. Motorists are advised to only enter the box when they are certain they can exit without stopping, ensuring that traffic from all directions can move efficiently, especially during busy peak hours.
To enforce these traffic regulations, authorities confirmed that junctions are being closely monitored by advanced surveillance systems and regular police patrols. Under Article 57 of the UAE’s Traffic and Road Safety Law, drivers caught blocking a yellow box face a fine of Dh500. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the emirate to refine traffic management, which also includes the recent expansion of paid parking systems in areas like Musaffah to improve vehicle organization and road accessibility across the city.
