Sharjah Ruler Orders New Bypass to Redirect Heavy Trucks from Al Dhaid City
In a significant move to improve the quality of life for local residents, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has directed that heavy truck traffic be permanently diverted away from Al Dhaid’s city centre. During a recent appearance on the 'Direct Line' programme, the Ruler emphasized that this decision was essential to minimize public inconvenience and boost road safety within the urban area. By shifting these vehicles to an alternative route, the emirate aims to streamline traffic flow and reduce the daily disruptions currently experienced by the community.
Beyond traffic management, the Ruler has unveiled a comprehensive urban development plan for Al Dhaid. This includes relocating all government departments to a series of architecturally significant buildings situated between Al Dhaid University Square and Al Dhaid Square. A flagship project within this initiative is the construction of a new, landmark municipality building, which will serve as both a functional hub for public services and a symbol of the city’s forward-thinking identity. These infrastructure upgrades, paired with existing peak-hour truck restrictions enforced by the RTA and Sharjah Police, are set to transform Al Dhaid into a more efficient and resident-friendly environment.
