New Traffic Diversions Announced for Sharjah Motorists

Wed, Jun 10, 2026(90d ago)UAE

Starting June 13, drivers in Sharjah should prepare for significant travel adjustments as the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) implements temporary diversions to facilitate critical infrastructure upgrades. The most notable changes affect Al Taawun Street, where construction on the tunnel development project necessitates a partial closure at the existing roundabout. Consequently, traffic heading toward Dubai and the Al Nahda Bridge will be rerouted via Al Corniche Street, while those traveling from the bridge back into Sharjah must utilize newly designated alternative paths.

Beyond the work on Al Taawun, the SRTA is also launching the first phase of an intersection capacity enhancement project at Al Khulafa Al Rashideen. These combined initiatives are designed to improve long-term traffic flow and strengthen the emirate’s road network. Authorities are urging all commuters to remain vigilant by following local signage and adhering to established safety protocols to minimize potential delays during the construction period.
