Tragic Collision on Dubai Road Leaves One Dead and 19 Injured

Thu, May 14, 2026(99d ago)UAE

A devastating traffic accident occurred on Dubai’s Al Yalayis Street this Thursday, resulting in one fatality and 19 injuries. The incident took place near the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Bridge when a workers' bus experienced a sudden mechanical failure and came to a stop in the middle of the road. A trailing truck, failing to maintain a safe distance or pay adequate attention, crashed into the back of the bus. Emergency responders transported all 19 injured individuals to local hospitals, with reports indicating that eight victims are in critical condition, while others sustained moderate to minor injuries.

In the wake of the tragedy, Dubai Police officials have issued a stern warning regarding the dangers of stopping in live traffic lanes. Brigadier Jumaa Salem Bin Suwaidan emphasized that such stops are a primary cause of lethal accidents in the region. Motorists are urged to ensure their vehicles are well-maintained before driving and to immediately contact emergency services if a breakdown occurs. Drivers are advised to activate hazard lights, exit the vehicle to a safe location, and place warning markers to alert others, as failing to do so poses a severe risk to all road users.
