Thu, May 14, 2026(54d ago)UAE

A motorist was safely rescued within eight minutes on Thursday morning after his car veered into the Sharjah Creek near the Court House. The incident occurred at approximately 7:04 am on May 14, when a marine rescue team from the Sharjah Civil Defence, who happened to be on a routine patrol nearby, witnessed the vehicle entering the water. The team immediately mobilized, diving into the creek to reach the submerged car and successfully pulling the driver to safety before the situation became critical.

Following the rescue, the individual was handed over to the National Ambulance service, where he received medical attention and was confirmed to be in good condition. Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence, praised the swift actions of the responders, noting that their continuous training and round-the-clock readiness are vital for protecting the community. He emphasized that the operation highlighted the effectiveness of maintaining active marine patrols and specialized emergency systems, which are essential for ensuring a rapid response in life-threatening scenarios.
