Dubai Police Issues Massive Dh50,000 Fine for Dangerous Road Stunts

Fri, May 15, 2026(53d ago)UAE

Dubai authorities have officially impounded a vehicle following a display of reckless driving that threatened public safety. The motorist, identified as an Asian national, was caught performing dangerous maneuvers, including weaving through traffic at high speeds and illegally overtaking other drivers via the road shoulder. In line with Local Decree No. (30) of 2023, the driver is now facing a steep Dh50,000 release fee to reclaim their impounded car, serving as a stern warning against such dangerous behavior on public roads.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, emphasized that these actions represent some of the most severe traffic violations, as they leave other road users with almost no time to react. He highlighted that high-speed swerving often results in catastrophic accidents, including vehicle rollovers and multi-car collisions. Furthermore, officials reminded the public that road shoulders are strictly reserved for emergency vehicles, and their misuse poses a significant threat to life. To help curb these incidents, police are encouraging citizens to report any reckless driving spotted on the roads through the "Police Eye" service or the 901 hotline.
