Truck Collision Near Global Village Highlights Dangers of Tailgating

Thu, Jun 25, 2026(2h ago)UAE

A serious collision involving two trucks occurred on the road near Global Village heading toward Sharjah, leaving one individual injured. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care following the incident. Dubai Police investigators, who arrived on the scene to gather evidence and manage the wreckage, determined that the primary cause of the crash was the failure of one driver to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead.

In response to the incident, Dubai Police issued a stern reminder to motorists regarding the severe risks associated with tailgating, which remains a leading cause of fatal road accidents in the emirate. Under UAE traffic laws, those caught neglecting to keep a sufficient safety gap face a fine of Dh400 along with four black points on their license. Authorities are urging all road users to prioritize defensive driving and stay alert, noting that they continue to conduct ongoing awareness campaigns to combat reckless behaviors like tailgating and distracted driving to ensure safer roads for everyone.
