Dubai Customs has officially launched an advanced fleet of K9 transport vehicles, timed to support the UAE’s national anti-narcotics efforts and the International Day Against Drug Abuse. These state-of-the-art vehicles are designed to significantly boost the operational readiness of the K9 unit, which plays a vital role in safeguarding the nation's borders. By integrating smart technology, the department aims to modernize its inspection processes, ensuring that specialized teams can respond more quickly to threats while maintaining the highest standards of safety for both the officers and the dogs.
The new vehicles are packed with sophisticated features to ensure the welfare and performance of the dogs during extended field deployments. Key innovations include thermal sensors that monitor kennel temperatures, automated water dispensers, and non-slip flooring, alongside specialized smart cameras linked directly to the operations room for real-time oversight. With the K9 unit currently managing a diverse team of 28 dogs trained in narcotics and explosives detection, this investment reflects Dubai Customs' ongoing commitment to combining human expertise with high-tech solutions to effectively deter smuggling and protect the community.
