Dubai’s Smart Minibus Service Hits Major Milestone
Since its inception in December 2024, Dubai’s app-based minibus pooling service has become a vital part of the city’s transit landscape, successfully transporting over 193,000 passengers. Managed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the system allows commuters to book shared rides through dedicated mobile apps like Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily. By operating a fleet of 20-passenger vehicles across key hubs such as Business Bay, Mirdif, and Al Quoz, the RTA has created a flexible and cost-effective alternative to private car ownership, with demand peaking significantly in October 2025.
Beyond mere convenience, this service is a cornerstone of Dubai’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility. By utilizing real-time data to dynamically adjust routes, the RTA optimizes transit efficiency while actively reducing traffic congestion and lowering the city’s carbon footprint. This model not only addresses the critical "first and last mile" travel challenge but also complements broader public transport efforts. As the RTA continues to explore service expansions and integrates new initiatives, such as the school transport pooling pilot, the platform remains a testament to how smart technology can reshape the daily commute for residents and visitors alike.
