Dubai Road Improvements: RTA Targets 28 Locations for Faster Commutes
Dubai motorists can look forward to smoother journeys in the coming months as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launches a comprehensive series of infrastructure upgrades across 28 key locations. Strategically scheduled for the quieter summer season between July and September, these projects aim to tackle congestion before the bustle of the new academic year returns. Major highlights include a significant 5km expansion of Emirates Road toward Al Amardi Street, which is projected to slash peak-hour travel times by 25 percent, alongside vital capacity enhancements in high-traffic zones like Business Bay, Al Quoz, and Ras Al Khor.
Beyond main highway improvements, the RTA is focusing on residential and school-zone accessibility to streamline daily transit. The upgrades feature widened junctions, additional lanes, and new parking facilities near institutions like the Zayed Educational Complex and Horizon International School to ease student drop-off and pick-up routines. By utilizing data-driven insights, surveillance feedback, and public suggestions, the RTA aims to boost overall road capacity and efficiency. This initiative reflects the authority’s ongoing commitment to evolving Dubai’s infrastructure to keep pace with the city’s rapid urban expansion and growing population.
