UAE Defends Against Drone Incursion Near Barakah Nuclear Facility
On May 17, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence reported a security incident involving three hostile drones that breached the nation’s western border. Emirati air defense systems were quick to respond, successfully intercepting two of the aerial vehicles. However, a third drone managed to impact an electrical generator located just outside the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region.
Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to identify the origin and intent behind these unauthorized incursions. In the wake of the event, the Ministry of Defence has reaffirmed its high state of readiness, emphasizing that the country is fully prepared to neutralize any future threats. Officials underscored their unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, strategic infrastructure, and the overall stability of the UAE against any attempts to disrupt its security.
