Stay Safe This Summer: Essential Tips to Prevent Tyre Blowouts in the UAE

Fri, Jul 3, 2026(2h ago)UAE

As the UAE enters the peak of summer, the Ministry of Interior has rolled out its "Accident-Free Summer" campaign to keep motorists safe during the busy travel season. With extreme temperatures significantly increasing the risk of vehicle malfunctions, officials are stressing the importance of thorough maintenance before hitting the road. Key safety steps include verifying that all exterior lights are functioning, keeping roof loads under the 60cm limit, and ensuring no flammable items are left inside the cabin.

A major focus of this year's initiative is the prevention of tyre blowouts, which become a heightened threat due to scorching asphalt temperatures. Authorities have identified five primary culprits for these dangerous failures: carrying excessive weight, improper tyre pressure, driving at speeds that exceed a tyre’s design limits, the friction caused by intense heat, and previous damage from driving on rough terrain. Drivers are urged to go beyond simple inspections and commit to comprehensive vehicle servicing—including checking cooling systems and fluids—to ensure their cars remain roadworthy throughout the summer months.
