Dubai Authorities Break Up Drug Trafficking Ring in Major Bust
Dubai law enforcement has successfully dismantled a major drug smuggling operation, resulting in the seizure of nearly 200 kilograms of illicit substances. In a coordinated effort, Dubai Customs and the Dubai Policeâs General Department of Anti-Narcotics confiscated over 278,000 Pregabalin pills. The operation began when the Customs' sophisticated data analysis systems flagged a suspicious shipment arriving from an Asian nation, allowing the Siyaj team to intercept more than 150,000 of the pills during an initial inspection.
Following this breakthrough, the investigation shifted to a tactical operation led by Dubai Police, which successfully apprehended a four-member criminal gang operating within the UAE. A search of the suspects led to the discovery of an additional 128,250 pills, bringing the total haul to 278,850 units. Rashed bin Harb Al Shamsi, Director of the Customs Intelligence Department, noted that this success highlights the effectiveness of integrating artificial intelligence and advanced risk-assessment technologies to stay ahead of international smuggling networks and protect the community from illegal narcotics.
