UAE Delivery Riders Protected by New Midday Break Safeguards

Fri, Jul 3, 2026(2h ago)UAE

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) has clarified that delivery riders cannot be forced to work during the mandatory midday break, which runs from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm between June 15 and September 15. Under the Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy, delivery platforms are prohibited from assigning riders more than three orders within this window, with a strict 60-minute time limit to ensure safety. Furthermore, all foot-based deliveries are completely banned during these hours to protect workers from the extreme summer heat.

To support the well-being of the workforce, the government has partnered with the private sector to provide over 12,000 air-conditioned rest stations across the country, equipped with seating and cold water. Companies are held strictly accountable for managing schedules to minimize heat exposure and must ensure riders are fully aware of available safety resources. Authorities are actively monitoring compliance through digital systems and field inspections, and they have encouraged the public to report any violations or unsafe working conditions through the ministry’s official call center or mobile app.
