Dubai RTA Announces Major Traffic Shifts on Emirates Road

Sat, Jul 4, 2026(4h ago)UAE

Starting July 4, 2026, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will introduce a new traffic diversion on Emirates Road to facilitate critical infrastructure expansion. These upgrades are designed to enhance the city's road network capacity and ensure smoother traffic flow in the long term. The project focuses specifically on widening the tunnel located between Al Amardi and Tripoli Streets, alongside essential improvements to the loop ramps at the intersection of Emirates Road and Maleha Street.

During this two-month construction window, the Al Aayal Tunnel will be temporarily closed to accommodate the work crews. To minimize disruption, the RTA has mapped out alternative routes for commuters and is advising all drivers to factor in extra travel time. Motorists are encouraged to plan their daily journeys ahead of schedule and strictly adhere to all posted signage and traffic instructions to ensure a safe and efficient commute throughout the construction period.
